The Arniston stones are positioned above the doorway which leads to a glazed walkway and the Debating Chamber. They were previously part of the pre-1707 Scottish Parliament building and consequently they are one of the key symbolic links between the new Scottish Parliament building and Scotland’s history.
More recently, the lintel formed part of a bridge over a stream at Arniston House, Midlothian, until the owners of the house gifted it to the Scottish Parliament.
Gift to the Scottish Parliament by the Dundas-Bekker family.
