Environmental Standards Scotland (ESS) is here to monitor the effectiveness of environmental law in Scotland, and public authorities’ compliance with it.
WHO WE ARE
ESS is a new independent body set up to ensure the effectiveness of environmental law, and prevent enforcement gaps arising from the UK leaving the European Union.
OUR ORGANISATION
We are a non-ministerial office, governed by a Chair and Board.
Our Board operates under agreed Standing Orders and we have a Framework agreement with the Scottish Government.
