Parliament suspended following death of Her Majesty The Queen

All parliamentary business at Holyrood has been suspended as a mark of respect following the death of Her Majesty The Queen.  There will be no public access to the Scottish Parliament building until after the State Funeral.

Presiding Officer to represent Scottish Parliament

The Presiding Officer, the Rt Hon Alison Johnstone MSP will represent The Scottish Parliament at the State Funeral of Her Majesty The Queen.  The First Minister of Scotland, the Rt Hon Nicola Sturgeon MSP, will represent the Scottish Government. All four party leaders will also attend:

  • Douglas Ross MSP,  Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party
  • Anas Sarwar MSP, Scottish Labour Party
  • Lorna Slater MSP,  Scottish Green Party
  • Alex Cole-Hamilton MSP, Scottish Liberal Democrats

MSPs and staff to pay personal tributes

The Presiding Officer has signed a book of condolence for Her Majesty The Queen that is being placed at the Scottish Parliament for MSPs to pay their own personal tributes. 

The Rt Hon Alison Johnstone MSP said: "I know the pages of this book will reflect many personal tributes that Members of this Parliament will want to pay."
