MSPs attend coronation events

The Scottish Parliament was represented at the events to mark the Coronation of His Majesty The King and Her Majesty The Queen held in Edinburgh on Wednesday. 

Presiding Officer Alison Johnstone MSP and First Minister Humza Yousaf attended the National Service of Thanksgiving and Dedication at St Giles' Cathedral.

They were joined by six of our MSPs: Douglas Ross MSP, Anas Sarwar MSP, Alex Cole-Hamilton MSP, Ben Macpherson MSP, Roz McCall MSP, and Claire Baker MSP.

Visiting during recess

The Scottish Parliament is in recess from 1 July to 3 September 2023.  During this period, no Chamber or committee meetings are expected to take place. 

The Parliament building is open to visitors during recess.

Festival of Politics 2023

The Scottish Parliament hosts its Festival of Politics between 9 to 11 August. 

This year the line-up will feature ‘in conversation’ events in the Debating Chamber with former politician Michael Portillo and percussionist Dame Evelyn Glennie OBE.

World Press Photo 2023

The Scottish Parliament is the only venue in the UK to host the World Press Photo exhibition.

The photojournalism exhibition will be free to view from 5 to 26 August.

Petitions are a way to ask the Parliament to do something.

Any person or organisation can submit a petition: you do not have to be a certain age or live in Scotland.

MSPs cannot submit a petition but they can support them.
